World No. 1 couples defend their title at the Paris Major

One of the most important weeks of the year comes to an end with the finals of the Paris Major at the iconic Roland Garros. This tournament, one of the most prestigious on the calendar, left us with some great moments on Sunday, with the consolidation of the best couples in the world.

Ari and Paula are unrivalled

They are, without a doubt, the best couple in the world and the most successful in history. Ariana Sanchez and Paula Josemariacontinue to demonstrate their dominance on the circuit. If there was still any doubt, today they added another Major to their list of winners after winning all of them this season. With this victory, their position in the ranking is about to be a mathematical fact, consolidating their status as No. 1.

In the final, they faced a duo that has surprised everyone during the week: Delfina Brea and Andrea Ustero. The circus-like couple had a great tournament and can leave Paris with their heads held high, but today they couldn’t stop the unbeatable Ari and Paula. After a competitive first set, which ended 6-4, the Spanish duo took full control in the second set, closing out the match with a resounding 6-0 win.

Coello and Tapia, they’re still in sweet form

There were no surprises, just absolute domination. Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia are still untreatable, showing a level unattainable for the rest of the circuit. Since the quarter finals, they’ve been devastating their rivals, without slowing down or showing any signs of weakness. Today was no exception.

In the final of the Paris Major, their victims (of course, in yet another final) were Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan, who could do little against the world number ones. With a devastating 6-2/6-1, Coello and Tapia took the title in an impressive way, shortening times and suffocating their opponents in every point.

The most worrying thing of all is that it seems that Coello and Tapia aren’t even playing to their maximum potential. Not only do they control the matches from start to finish, but they also do it in such an overwhelming way that they barely allow their rivals to have a breather. If a few months ago there was still a glimpse of a possible dispute for the throne of padel, today that fight has almost completely vanished.
