It’s finally official! Premier Padel has released a press release announcing that the best female padel players in the world are joining the international circuit. It is recalled that back in February this new tour could also have women’s padel this year. In fact, Ale Salazar even confirmed that everything pointed to the fact that they were going to start playing on the circuit soon.
According to the tour’s press release, more than 110 players have signed up and more are expected to do so in the coming days.
This announcement is a historic milestone for Premier Padel, the circuit governed by the International Padel Federation (FIP) and supported by the Professional Padel Association (PPA). The participation of the female players, under the leadership of the International Padel Players Association (IPPA), reinforces this new tour in every aspect as a world-class circuit and the tour of trust for all professional padel players.
The fact that Premier Padel starts to count on women’s padel does not mean that all the tournaments on its calendar for 2023 will have women’s events. According to the statement: “The women’s competition will run alongside the men’s on the calendar, and discussions will now begin with the promoters of the different venues to assess which tournaments can immediately host the women’s circuit“.
The president of the International Padel Federation, Luigi Carraro, assured a few weeks ago that the girls would play the next event on the calendar, that is, the Italy Major.
According to Luigi Carraro, President of the International Padel Federation (FIP): “Today is a very proud and historic day for padel. Since the launch of Premier Padel just one year ago, we have worked hard to get both men and women to compete on this world tour. With over 110 female players already signed up and many more to come, I am delighted with the progress we have made as we continue to elevate padel to new levels and grow the sport around the world“.
According to Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, Chairman of Premier Padel: “When we launched Premier Padel just over a year ago, we committed to both men and women playing on our circuit. With this historic announcement, I am very proud to say that we have achieved our ambition in just over a year since the creation of the circuit. We now look forward to seeing our sport continue to thrive and grow. This is just the beginning for Premier Padel”.
According to the International Padel Players Association: “After months of discussions, the majority of IPPA players voted in favour of playing the new tour in 2023, giving their support to the circuit. With this commitment, we want to strengthen our sport alongside men’s padel. Premier Padel is a fantastic project for padel, especially for women’s padel, as well as for the international projection of our sport“.
