The European Padel Championships has already registered its first results with the first day of play on Monday.
The top teams started the European Padel Championships with a victory.
Defending champions Spain started with three wins, all in two sets against Monaco: Ruiz/Zapata (6-1, 6-3), Arroyo/Cardona (6-2, 6-2) and Diestro/Rico (6-0, 6-1). For their part, Germany also beat Croatia 3-0 in Group A.
In Group B, hosts Italy also got off to a 3-0 start, beating Hungary with Graziotti/Patiniotis, Dominguez/Sinicropi and Cassetta/Cremona. In the same group, Great Britain beat Switzerland by the same score.
In Group C, France struggled especially in the first match, but managed to beat the Netherlands 3-0, in a group where Poland also took an important step towards the quarter-finals with a 3-0 win over Austria.
In Group D, finally, Sweden and Portugal won 3-0 over Denmark and Belgium. Both teams, the clear favourites to advance from the group, will meet on Tuesday.
On the first day of the European Padel Championships, the four seeds of the women’s tournament did not fail.
In Group A, defending champions Spain beat Lithuania 3-0, losing only 5 games in three matches: 6-0 and 6-0 for Marta Ortega and Jessica Castelló, 6-1 and 6-0 for Andrea Ustero and Ale Alonso and finally, 6-0 and 6-4 for Bea Caldera and Lorena Rufo. In Group A, Denmark also beat Switzerland 3-0.
In Group B, 3-0 also for France over Poland, with the French team conceding just 3 games in all their matches. Good debut also for Portugal, who beat Belgium 3-0 but with two marathon matches, won by Ribeiro/Nogueira and Araujo/Dias.
The hosts Italy made a happy debut in Group C with a 3-0 win over Finland. Germany, meanwhile, beat Hungary 2-1.
In Group D, Sweden beat Great Britain 3-0 and the Netherlands beat Estonia 3-0.
Below we share with you the order of play for the second day of the European Padel Championships 2024, with the women’s teams clashing in the morning (from 9:00) and the men’s teams in the afternoon (from 16:00).
