Agustín Tapia and Arturo Coello have won their third consecutive Premier Padel title after defeating Franco Stupaczuk and Martín Di Nenno 6-2, 7-6 in the final of the Mendoza P1.
It was the expected final. The two best couples of the season met for a new title in Mendoza (Argentina). The Acongagua Arena was not going to disappoint and was going to be packed for this battle, as it was in the semifinals.
Both couples arrived at the final with different sensations. One couple came in dominating and the other with two shocks. Tapia and Coello came into the match having only conceded 22 games in the 4 games played, without losing a single set. For their part, Stupa and Di Nenno had escaped elimination on two occasions (round of 16 and semifinals).
As for the match, the Spanish-Argentine duo started very well, taking a break quickly in the second game. They got off to a 3-0 lead and were just one ball away from a second break. However, the Superpibes avoided it and opened their score. Agustín and Arturo would end up extending their lead in the eighth game to take the first set 6-2.
In the second set, the score was even and neither couple managed to break their opponents’ serve. Game after game everything seemed to be heading towards sudden death, which would end up coming. In it, Stupa and Di Nenno were on the verge of forcing the third set, but a two-handed volley from the latter hit the backcourt glass. Agustin Tapia and Arturo Coello did not hesitate two points later in the tie break, when they had a match ball, to close the final and proclaim themselves winners.
With this title, Agustin Tapia and Arturo Coello finish the first part of the season as great dominators of the World Padel Tour and Premier Padel. In the latter circuit they complete their hat-trick after winning in Rome, Madrid and now in Mendoza.
