Tapia and Coello start the year with a title in Riyadh

The number 1 pairing in the world have started the season in the best possible way. Agustín Tapia and Arturo Coello have been proclaimed champions of the Riyadh Season P1 of the Premier Padel, thus winning their first title of the year after beating Franco Stupaczuk and Juan Lebrón 6-3, 5-7 and 6-3 in a hard-fought final.

Last year, Coello and Tapia fell just short of the title in Riyadh, losing in the final to Juan Lebrón and Ale Galán. However, this time, the outcome was different. In a match marked by intensity and changes of pace, the current circuit leaders managed to prevail and add a new trophy to their list of achievements.

This was how Tapia and Coello won the final of the Riyadh P1

A dominant start from the number ones

The match began with Tapia and Coello showing their superiority from the outset. With an early break, they quickly established a 3-0 lead, which proved decisive in the first set.

Their solidity on serve and the precision of their shots made the difference, allowing them to close the set 6-3 without conceding a single break point to their rivals.

The reaction of Stupaczuk and Lebrón

Far from giving up, Stupa and Lebrón managed to even the score in the second set. As the set progressed, the number 3 pairing began to improve on the offensive side and increase the pressure on their opponents.

When it seemed that everything would be decided in a tie-break, they managed a key break at just the right moment to win the set 7-5 and force a third set.

Tapia and Coello regain control

The momentum with which Stupa and Lebrón closed the second set was quickly neutralised by Coello and Tapia. With a break in the first game, the number 1s regained the initiative and maintained their lead with solid and effective play. Although their rivals had chances to reduce the deficit, Tapia and Coello struck again in the ninth game, sealing the victory with another final 6-3.

After almost two hours of battle, Agustín Tapia and Arturo Coello won their first title of the season, demonstrating why they are the best couple on the circuit. The Spanish-Argentinian duo continues to impose its law and sends a clear message to its pursuers: they are still the team to beat in 2025.

For their part, Franco Stupaczuk and Juan Lebrón have made a great impression in their debut as a couple. They have competed head-to-head with the number 1s and have shown that they will be one of the great threats on the circuit this year. This match has been only the first chapter of a rivalry that promises to mark the season.
