Qatar is once again the country chosen for the World Cup
Qatar will host the World Padel Cup 2024, which will be held between 28 October and 2 November at the Khalifa International Tennis & Squash Complex in Doha (same venue as the Qatar Major). This will be the 17th edition of the most important tournament in terms of national teams. Sixteen national teams will participate in both the men’s and women’s categories.
The tournament will be organised by the International Padel Federation (FIP) and the Qatar Tennis Federation (QTF). In addition, this year’s edition will award a total prize money of €500,000. It will be distributed equally between men and women for all countries that reach the finals.
This championship follows other important FIP events, such as the FIP Seniors World Padel Championships held in April in La Nucia and last year’s FIP Juniors World Padel Championships in Asuncion.
FIP President Luigi Carraro said: “the sport has developed rapidly since the last time the tournament was held here in 2021 – padel is now a global phenomenon – and we continue to grow padel under the motto of unity, uniqueness and professionalism.”
Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, President of the Qatar Tennis Federation, has also expressed his enthusiasm for hosting this prestigious tournament: “Qatar has an exceptional track record in the Qatar has an exceptional track record in organising major sporting events based on the highest standards, and where the conditions for players and fans are second to none.”
What happened at the previous Padel World Cup?
We have to go back to 2022 to remember what was the highlight of that World Cup. Mainly, Argentina won in the men’s category and Spain in the women’s category.
The Spanish girls were unrivalled throughout the World Cup and took the final against Argentina with relative ease. Quite the opposite of the boys: Coello and Galán lost to the Superpibes in two sets.
The next match pitted Momo and Alex against Bela and Sanyo. This match was much more closely contested, and Argentina took it 6-3 in the third set thanks to the veteran skills of the incombustible Fernando Belasteguín and Sanyo Gutiérrez.

It’s still too early to try to guess who will be called up, but Spain may have an overbooking of players. We will see if Argentina bets again on their veterans, who may live their last World Cup.
