In padel we have seen carpets in many colours (blue, brown, black, green, etc) or types of surfaces (grass, quick, cement). However, to date we have never seen a type of floor like the one Padel Park, a padel club in Monterrey (Mexico) offers its customers… Playing padel on clay!
This sports centre has announced on its social networks that from Monday 15th May it will offer the possibility of playing padel on clay, as can be done on many tennis courts around the world.
Until now, it was something that could be thought of, but it hasn’t been until now that Padel Park has taken the step to offer this type of padel court.
This is what they announced on their social networks:
“Padel is now played on CLAY. This is the first clay court in the world, and it is only available at Padel Park! You can book it from the 15th of May“.

Watching the video you might find it strange, but it can certainly be quite appealing. Simulate that you are like Rafa Nadal at Roland Garros, but in padel. We don’t know how it will be received, but it will certainly be worth a try.
What differences can you notice on this type of surface? Playing on clay may allow the player to be able to slide more extremely on the court, skidding to try to get a ball. Also, the bounces will be more noticeable, so you can always see if your opponent’s serve has been good or bad. You can add to this the fact that after the match you will end up with brown shoes if they are white.
This may be the first padel court on clay that we see, but maybe, if the reception is good, we can see more of this type of courts in other parts of the world.
