The semifinals of the first stage of the Pro Padel League in Miami came to an end this morning, revealing the teams that will compete for the title this Sunday, Miami Padel Club and Las Vegas Smash.
Here we tell you how the clashes went and what time and where you can follow the final on Sunday.
Both matches played last night finished with a 2-1 scoreline, with the mixed match being the decisive one for both Las Vegas Smash and Miami Padel Club to reach the final.
The duel between the Las Vegas Smash and the Toronto Polar Bears started with the men’s match between Pablo Cardona and Gonza Alfonso against Coki Nieto and Javier Gonzalez Barahona, which was resolved in a tight 5-7, 6-4 and 6-7.
With a win in their locker room, the Toronto team only needed a victory in one of the next two matches. However, it was not to be and the team from Las Vegas turned the tie around.
In the women’s match, Marta Ortega and Alejandra Alonso were in charge of beating Victoria Iglesias and Marina Guinart. With Iglesias struggling a bit due to some neck discomfort, the match was quickly resolved by 6-2 and 6-3.
It would be the mixed match that would qualify Las Vegas Smash to the next round. Marta Ortega and Gonza Alfonso won 6-1 against Marina Guinart and Coki Nieto.
With the first tie settled, the next clash kicked off at midnight. Miami Padel Club and the New York Atlantics faced each other for a place in the final.
The men’s match pitted Jon Sanz and Agustin Tapia against Ramiro Moyano and Lucas Campagnolo. The former, who have played some great padel throughout the week, beat the Argentinean and Brazilian couple 4-6, 6-1 and 10-6.
Then came the reaction from the New York pairing as Tamara Icardo and Andrea Ustero defeated Ari Sanchez and Marta Talavan. The former came from behind to force a third game with a 3-6, 6-4, 10-3 win.
In the mixed match, Ari Sanchez and Agustin Tapia took on Ramiro Moyano and Andrea Ustero. The couple of number 1’s ended up giving the victory to the Miami team with a 6-4 win.
The grand final of this first stage of the Pro Padel League will pit Las Vegas Smash against Miami Padel Club. The clash will be played not before 20:00 in Spain (15:00 in Argentina), just after the clash for third and fourth place, which will have the Toronto Polar Bears and the New York Atlantics as protagonists.
Remember that both matches will be streamed on the Pro Padel League’s YouTube channel and some platforms such as DAZN, FOX or Claro Sports.
