After finishing the Cervezas Victoria Marbella Master 2023 we have learned that Marta Ortega and Sofia Araujo will stop playing together.
The Spaniard and the Portuguese started a project two months ago and were currently the couple 4 of the women’s circuit. They were seeded third, but the good work of Delfi Brea and Bea Gonzalez made them drop a place.
Sofia Araújo made it official
A few hours after being eliminated in the semifinals of the Marbella Master against Ari Sánchez and Paula Josemaría, it was Sofia Araujo who confirmed the news. Although Marta Ortega has not yet communicated it, it is clear that the decision to break the couple has been hers.
This was the Portuguese player’s statement:
“The Marbella Master is over and so is my project with Marta Ortega. A kiss, thank you very much for this time and good luck in your new project.
It is really ungrateful when things don’t depend only on us. I can’t hide my disappointment and sadness, but, as far as it depends on me, I will keep working and fighting with the same focus for my goals, as always“.

Marta Ortega and Sofia Araujo‘s record over the last two months has been positive, winning the Alicante Open 500 and reaching the semi-finals on four occasions (Marbella, Vienna, Vigo and Brussels).
Who will Marta Ortega and Sofia Araujo play?
What is clear is that the results have not been the trigger for the couple to break up. The shots are more about Ale Salazar’s injury, who will be out for the next few weeks with an elbow injury and will therefore miss some tournaments on the World Padel Tour calendar.
Salazar’s partner, Gemma Triay, would have proposed to Marta Ortega to play together while the player from Madrid recovers.
The news shouldn’t take long to become official, as registration closes this Tuesday for next week’s French Padel Open.
