Lebron/Di Nenno and Sanchez/Josemaria claim Finland P2 title

The PadelOne Arena in Nokia (Finland) has experienced a great day of padel this Sunday with the finals of the Finland Premier Padel P2, with the winners being announced: Juan Lebron and Martin Di Nenno in the men’s category and Ari Sanchez and Paula Josemaria in the women’s category.

Lebron and Di Nenno win a title again, now together

Juan Lebron and Martin Di Nenno generated great expectation when they arrived in Finland: the new Spanish-Argentine pairing made their debut as number 1 seeds due to the absence of the top two couples in the ranking, Arturo Coello/Agustin Tapia and Ale Galan/Fede Chingotto. Agustín Gómez Silingo, who recently retired at the Malaga P1, led the team in his first tournaments as coach.

Their debut was outstanding, showing a great connection throughout the tournament and claiming to be the Finland P2 winners by beating Jon Sanz and Coki Nieto 7-5, 6-3.

Juan Lebron‘s first professional title on the backhand side, after the ones he won on the forehand side with Paquito Navarro and Ale Galan.

“We dreamed of starting like this,” said Di Nenno after winning his first title of the year. “We started training together a fortnight ago and we did it intensely, also because people expected a lot from us. Juan played unbelievable on the backhand.”

Ari and Paula win their sixth title of the season and break an all-time record

No. 1 seeds Ariana Sanchez and Paula Josemaria added to their title haul with another 6-3, 6-1 victory over Marta Ortega and Sofia Araujo in two sets.

The Spanish couple, who have not conceded a set in the whole tournament, showed their superiority in the first set and continued to dominate in the second.

With the win at the Finland P2, Ari and Paula become the most successful female couple in the history of padel, winning a whopping 33 titles together, beating the previous record set by the Sanchez Alayeto twins with 32 titles.

“It’s a very exciting moment, from when I was four years old and started playing tennis to when, at 17, I started playing padel. I’ve always wanted to be number one, but when I reached that goal, I realised that what I really wanted was to leave a mark, and that’s what Ari and I are doing,” said Paula Josemaría after winning.
