They already have their first World Padel Tour title of the season! Franco Stupaczuk and Martin Di Nenno have managed to beat Momo Gonzalez and Sanyo Gutierrez 6-3, 6-2 in the final of the Danish Padel Open.
The absence of the top two seeds of the tournament left a tournament that was going to break the hegemony shown so far by Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia. Franco Stupaczuk and Martin Di Nenno came into the final as the strongest candidates to win, but Momo Gonzalez and Sanyo Gutierrez wanted to fight for the title.
However, the first set showed that the Argentine couple came into the final very determined. Two breaks put them 4-1 up. Although Momo and Sanyo managed to neutralise one of the breaks, they were unable to get back on level terms. So, the Superpibes took a 6-3 lead and half the match in their pocket.
The second set continued with the same script. Stupa and Di Nenno were more decisive, while their opponents could not find a way to stop them. Carlos Pozzoni‘s players led 3-1 on the scoreboard, and shortly after they took the decisive break. So, after an hour and twenty minutes of play, Franco Stupaczuk and Martin Di Nenno closed out the match 6-2.
Although the couple had already won a tournament this season, the Qatar Major at Premier Padel, they hadn’t won a title on the World Padel Tour. After reaching three finals, it was on the fourth occasion that they managed to lift the trophy. “We really wanted to win a WPT title. We’ve worked hard and we really deserved it. Now we have to enjoy this championship, and I hope it’s the first of many”, said Franco Stupaczuk after the match.
