It’s the new World Padel Tour classic! Franco Stupaczuk and Martin Di Nenno faced Agustin Tapia and Arturo Coello, the most repeated final so far this season.
The two most consistent couples of the year played one of the tightest finals in recent times. At stake was the third Master, a special tournament for Coello for playing at home. However, the Superpibes didn’t give the local player the honour of winning, nor did they give him the chance to continue his unbeaten run alongside Agustín Tapia. And the fact is that the player from Valladolid and the one from Catamarca have seen their streak of 46 consecutive victories cut short, although in France they picked up a WO for not playing the tournament due to injury.
So far, Coello and Tapia had only lost on court on one occasion, precisely to Stupaczuk and Di Nenno at the last Qatar Major. Now, a few months later and several attempts, the Superpibes have managed to beat them again, being the only couple that has managed to do it in this 2023.
However, the final of the Valladolid Master didn’t start in the best way for the Argentine duo. The number ones took the lead with a break in the fourth game, which Stupa and Di Nenno answered with a counterbreak. In the end, Coello and Tapia broke in the tenth game to end the first set 6-4.
The Superpibes didn’t give up and improved their performance in the 20×10. In the seventh game they took the lead with a break. Shortly after, they had two chances to force a third set, but it was in the following game, on their own serve, that they managed to do so with a 6-4 lead.
In the last set, it was the number 1’s who began to impose their rhythm. Thanks to a break they were 4-1 up on the scoreboard. However, Franco and Martin would be able to level the match, and it would be the sudden death that would dictate the sentence. It was then when Franco Stupaczuk and Martin Di Nenno gave the final blow, winning the tiebreak by 7-4 to be crowned champions of the Valladolid Master.
With this victory, Franco Stupaczuk and Martín Di Nenno add their fourth title to their trophy cabinet in 2023: the Qatar Major of Premier Padel and the French Padel Open, the Danish Padel Open and the Valladolid Master of the World Padel Tour.
