It was their first final as a couple, and they made the most of it. Delfi Brea and Bea Gonzalez have won the Danish Padel Open 2023 after beating Gemma Triay and Ale Salazar 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 in the final.
The women’s final of the Danish Open pitted the two best couples of the week against each other. Delfi Brea and Bea Gonzalez, who had just beaten the number 1 seeds in the semifinals, faced Gemma Triay and Ale Salazar, the favourites to win the final.
After an even start, it was the Spanish/Argentinian couple who took the lead with two breaks in their favour to Gemma and Ale’s one after six games. Delfi and Bea managed to break their opponents’ serve for the third time, which allowed them to start the final with a 6-2 lead.
Triay and Salazar reacted right from the start of the second set. They got an early break. In a game in which holding serve was really complicated, the Spaniards came out on top, taking a 6-3 lead and sending the match into the third set.
In the last game of the final, it was Gemma and Ale who took another 2-0 lead. They had the 3-0 lead in their hands, but Delfi and Bea held on to equalise, 2-2. The following serves went without surprises, but in the ninth game there was a decisive break in favour of the Argentinian and the Spaniard. At 5-4 and on serve, Delfi Brea and Bea Gonzalez closed out the match 6-4 to become champions of the Danish Padel Open.
