They didn’t take part in Denmark, but that doesn’t stop them from continuing with an impressive trajectory on the World Padel Tour. Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia add the Vienna Padel Open to their trophy cabinet after beating Franco Stupaczuk and Martín Di Nenno 6-3, 6-3 in the final.
The two best couples on the men’s circuit faced each other on Sunday. Coello and Tapia came into the match having won all the titles on the World Padel Tour except one, the one won by Stupaczuk and Di Nenno last week.
The match started evenly, with both pairings holding on to their serves. However, in the sixth game, the number ones took the break that put them 4-2 on the scoreboard. Pablo Crosetti’s players needed no more. They held their serves and closed out the first set 6-3.
The second set couldn’t have got off to a better start for the Spanish-Argentine duo with a break in the opening game. But things got even better for them when they broke again in the fifth game. At 5-2 up, when everything seemed to suggest that the Argentinian and the Spaniard were going to close out the match on serve, they conceded a break that gave the Superpibes a chance. But nothing could be further from the truth, in the next game they closed out the match with a counter break. Thus, with a 6-3, Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia were proclaimed winners of the Vienna Padel Open.
The stats for the Spaniard and the Argentine are there, 8 World Padel Tour titles from the 8 tournaments they have played. They have a streak of 37 consecutive matches, something very few can achieve in professional padel. Furthermore, the absence of Lebron and Galan will put them at the top of the ranking this coming Monday, with Coello in first place and Tapia in second.
