Ari Sanchez and Paula Josemaria have beaten Tamara Icardo and Virginia Riera 6-1, 6-4 in the final of the Cervezas Victoria Marbella Master 2023.
Icardo and Riera reached their first final as a pairing after beating Gemma Triay and Ale Salazar in the quarter finals and the Sanchez Alayeto twins in the semifinals. However, in the final they would face the toughest rivals, the number 1 pairing, who came to the event with the intention of continuing their good form on the World Padel Tour.
It didn’t take long to see that Ari Sanchez and Paula Josemaria were going for the match. In just 20 minutes, they took the first set 6-1.
In the second set, the number 1 pairing got an early break to take a 2-0 lead. Icardo and Riera didn’t give up hope of extending the match and, at times, they were able to hold off Sanchez and Josemaria. However, the advantage gained by the Spanish duo would be more than enough to, with their serve, have the option to close out the match.
After the final, the player from Reus told the World Padel Tour microphones: “Maybe this is the best moment of my career. We’ve improved a lot as a team. Behind us, there are a lot of people who help us prepare for the competition every week. We’ve played a very solid tournament, and we’re delighted“.
With this title, Ari Sanchez and Paula Josemaria have now won seven tournaments so far this season, as well as adding a very valuable 2,000 points to take them ahead of Triay and Salazar in the rankings. The Spaniards, in fact, have made good use of the tournaments classified as Masters, as they have won the two that have been played.
