The community has spoken and, after weeks of voting, the Padel Addict Awards 2024 already have their big winners. With more than 30,000 votes collected through the web and Instagram, these awards, in which you have been the real protagonists, have recognised the best of the season.
Without further ado, let’s have a look at each of the categories and find out who took home the glory.
Best Racket
To whet your appetite for this gala. We chose four models that have been at the forefront in the past 2024. The nominees were: Adidas Metalbone 3.3, Siux Electra Pro ST3, NOX AT10 Genius 12K and HEAD Extreme Pro.
With a total of 1,911 votes, the winner was the NOX AT10 Genius 12K, used by Agustin Tapia. With 39.5% of the votes, this racket was consolidated as the favourite, imposing itself clearly over its competitors.
Best tournament
What would the circuit be without its characteristic tournaments, each one different, each one with a story to tell. It has been difficult to choose only four nominations, four emblematic stages. The tournaments nominated were: Barcelona Finals, Madrid P1, Paris Major and Italy Major.
With 1,267 total votes and 44.37% of the total… The Palau Sant Jordi was the finishing touch to the season and chosen as the best tournaments of the year. Premier Padel left the best for last.
Best coach
The great forgotten ones, the thinking heads behind the success. In the Padel Addict Awards, we wanted to give them the place they deserve. And as nominees we have: Jorge Martinez, Gustavo Pratto, Rodri Ovide and Angel Gonzalez.
With 3,214 votes cast, 33.75% of the support went to Gustavo Pratto, coach of Agustín Tapia and Arturo Coello. His role has been key in an unforgettable season for the duo, earning him recognition as the best coach of 2024.
Best point
How can we not recognise the spectacle that this sport offers us. There could literally be hundreds of points in each tournaments. It was very difficult to choose just four, and impossible to make any honourable mentions. However, given the difficulty and the context: Juan Lebrón (Madrid P1), Ale Galán (Sevilla P2), Agustín Tapia (Finals) and Tapia & Coello (Finals).
It is very difficult to narrow down this section. Whether it is the length of the point, the difficulty, the moment of the match, a specific shot? However, with almost half of the votes: Coello & Tapia ‘ s match point in the quarter finals against Paco & Cardona was the winner.
Player and player revelation
We are now in swampy territory. What we have all come to. This season we have seen how many new players have shone that we didn’t have on our radar. In the men’s category the candidates were Pablo Cardona, Tino Libaak, Fran Guerrero and Jairo Bautista. In the women’s category, meanwhile, were Alejandra Alonso, Andrea Ustero, Claudia Fernández and Águeda Pérez.
The results were overwhelming. With 43.56% of the votes, Tino Libaak was chosen as the male revelation player of 2024, followed by Pablo Cardona, with 32.4%.
In the women’s category, the domination was absolute: Claudia Fernández, with an overwhelming 78.96%, was consolidated as the revelation player of the year. She was followed by Andrea Ustero, with 18.7%.
Best player and player of the year
Now for the top category. The MVP of the year, for which all players fight for. Without further ado, these were our selected players: Arturo Coello, Agustín Tapia, Ale Galán and Fede Chingotto in the men’s category and Paula Josemaría, Ari Sánchez, Claudia Fernández and Gemma Triay in the women’s category.
In the men’s category, the MVP of the season award went to one of the members of the couple number 1, with Agustín Tapia being chosen with 54.6%, followed by his partner Arturo Coello, with 30.4%.
Meanwhile in the women’s category, the MVP of 2024 was Paula Josemaría, with 32.7% of the votes, beating her partner Ari Sánchez with 28.8%.
