6 questions with NXPadel, the Italian benchmark in fibreglass padel courts

The Italian company NXPadel opens the doors of its HQ to us to answer a few questions about the past and future of Fiberglass padel courts

Padel Addict has conducted this interview to find out more about the most rocking company in the world of padel and the uniqueness of its products. Luca Ceresoli, Co-Founder and Technical Director of NXPadel, and Nicola Ceresoli, Co-Founder and Commercial-Marketing Director, answer us.

  • The first question is obvious: Why jump into the market of iron padel courts, a well-established product, with a Fiberglass structure? An evaluated risk or a commercial gamble?

Nicola: “A meaningful and reasonable question considering that we propose a totally different solution from the rest of the manufacturers, but it is definitely not a gamble. We represent a revolution in padel courts that may shake up the status quo, but progress is at the core of our work and our passion. The first padel courts were simple concrete pours, then evolved into what we see today: iron and glass structures; probably if this evolution had not happened, padel could not have grown to these levels. Fiberglass is the next evolution of padel structures! It is a much more than evaluated risk, it is a calibrated risk, always keeping in mind those who make padel what it is: Players”.

  • However, isn’t NXPadel‘s Fiberglass the first proposed to the market? What has changed from the existing and already installed courts?

Luca: “The model we propose of Fiberglass Structure is actually not the first one launched to the market. The first version was unexpectedly successful (800 courts in 16 countries), but since it was the first prototype, we needed to make improvements from a structural point of view. The N1 and N1A models feature a number of structural enhancements made as a result of feedback received from installers, players, and club managers: the installation system has been made easier to the extreme (thanks to the “Rail System,” “Click-and-Fix,” and “Auto Flower Base”), the structure strength has been increased, the fastening systems reinforced, and many small components have been perfected. In short, a redesign in which we kept all the strengths of the first model and fixed the small defects”.

  • How do you respond to criticisms, many times stereotyped, about the Fiberglass Padel Court?

Luca: “Some misgivings about our Fiberglass Structure may be understandable: the new always leaves a little doubt! Honestly, however, many remarks are unfounded because, after 3 years of study and engineering, we developed a solution that not only can replace today’s iron structures but even increases their mechanical properties and playing performance. We are ready to promptly reply to all comments and feedback because the discussion with all the stakeholders of this sport is at the center of our project. It is a fact that Fiberglass Padel courts possess features that guarantee objective advantages for both players and technicians in the sector”.

  • But are you sure that Fiberglass courts are resistant? Looking at them, they simply look like plastic!

Luca: “Not only are we sure, but so is the engineering studio we work with for pure engineering development… Our courts have been tested and calculated to withstand a wind force of 130km/h and Japanese earthquakes! With structural improvements made to each component, we are able to offer a solution that can withstand almost any area of the World, even in the most complicated situations. Our system represents the perfect mix of lightness and strength, even because it does not rust we can avoid structural failure due to wear and tear”.

  • Fiberglass, however, is not the only innovation you propose. ComfortGlass is another battle horse for you, but what is it actually? More importantly, does it work?

Nicola: “Honestly, glass, regardless of whether it is tempered or laminated, makes no sense to be used in our opinion. The only reason it is used is for visibility for TV shooting, but it does not enrich with any added value compared to other materials. We strongly propose and promote ComfortGlass, which is an acrylic with a special compound to replace glass walls; it is a solution that has only advantages: it is lightweight, practically indestructible, totally transparent, and super-safe for players! The rebound is the same as tempered glass, and by combining it with the Fiberglass structure, it is possible to create a 100% safe and injury-free court. The concern of many is the risk of yellowing or scratching, but both of these scenarios have been evaluated to make a composite that will withstand both and last”.

  • Teasing question: do you really think you have a superior product?

Nicola: “We believe that our Fiberglass (https://www.nxpadel.com/vtr1.php) court possesses unique features that make life easier for installers, allow clubs to offer better service, reduce maintenance and risks, and most importantly, it allows players to get the most out of the playing experience. There are companies that offer excellent products made of iron as well, but I am fully aware that the Fiberglass Padel court impressively differentiates itself from even the best iron court in existence. NXPadel is able to propose an innovative and revolutionary solution that is accessible to everyone, but it is players and clubs that must answer this question directly!
